About the role

Provide trauma-informed, group-based therapeutic support and workshops to women and their families to aid reintegration and recovery. Coordinate integrated care through referrals, agency linkages, and detailed clinical documentation.

Jean Tweed Centre is a leading, community-based organization that provides a safe and supportive environment for women with substance use, mental health, and gambling concerns. Recognizing the diversity of women’s experience in today’s society, our programs seek to address a range of issues in a woman’s life that may contribute to substance use and gambling concerns. Understanding each woman’s experience within the broader physical, emotional, social, cultural and gender framework, we provide a client-centered approach to health. This program will improve Jean Tweed’s integrated treatment program bridging women’s transition from intensive treatment to community life. The Family Counsellor provides therapeutic support to individuals, and families experiencing relational, emotional, behavioral, or situational challenges. The Family Counsellor will deliver group-based family reintegration, wellness, relationships and grief workshops across JTC sites, helping women and their loved ones rebuild relationships and strengthen recovery together. *2 Part-time Contract Positions

Working hours may include day and evening shifts This is a hybrid role Rate of Pay: $34.10 - $39.89 (22.5 hours/ week) How will you help to get us there? As a Counsellor for Advanced Practice, Family Counsellor you will: Provide group-based family supports that are trauma

informed and gender responsive Launch monthly family groups across 3 sites for women while in treatment Enhance recovery maintenance, strengthen family communication and foster belonging and stability for clients during post-treatment period. Develop and implement a therapeutic relationship to address factors contributing to substance use, trauma and/or family related challenges. Provide referrals for supporting care and follow-up with institutions to promote seamless integrated care Identify and build linkages with agencies, other supporting organizations and social service systems in the area to promote consistent and effective intervention for clients. Administration Maintain documentation of relevant client interactions and interventions, and contacts with collateral supports. Monitor the progress of clients, prepare reports and letters as necessary. Develop and maintain attendance tracking and evaluation tools Collaborate with internal teams and external service providers to coordinate care and referrals. Participate in case conferences, supervision, and professional development opportunities as agreed to with Supervisor. Engage in ongoing staff development and personal learning as agreed to in performance reviews. Collaborate with supervisor to discuss job performance and establish professional goals. Organizational Conduct job responsibilities with a commitment to harm reduction, trauma- informed, women-centred and anti-oppressive practices. Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and work in a manner that is safe, reporting incidents immediately to direct supervisor. Adhere to the policies and procedures of The Jean Tweed Centre. Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of The Jean Tweed Centre. Maintain a client service orientation including learning about/addressing client needs and concerns. Work collaboratively including respect others, sharing information, consulting and celebrating shared successes. Demonstrate accountability by holding self responsible and following through on commitments. Support inclusion and equity by respecting others, embracing diversity and addressing oppression. Commit to continuous learning through professional development, giving and receiving constructive feedback and applying new skills. Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or related field. Registration in good standing with relevant regulatory body (e.g., Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario). 3 years of experience in the field of substance use, mental health and trauma-informed practice. Experience working with women who have been involved in the shelter system, criminal justice system, or had difficulty accessing appropriate health services. Group facilitation and prgram development skills Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Knowledge of community resources and supports in the Toronto area. Ability to prepare and present information in both formal and informal settings. First Aid/CPR certification. Requirements
