ROLE PURPOSE This position will provide assistance to residents with activities of daily living, medication assistance and tasks as may be delegated.

STATUS Non-Union; this position is open to all genders.

WORK HOURS 16 hours per week; Friday & Saturday, 0000 - 0800. WHAT WE OFFER

Employer-paid support services, such as an in-house counsellor, Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP), and Critical Incidents Stress Management Paid in-house training programs such as MANDT and Naloxone Competitive wages, with a commitment to being a living wage employer Opportunities for career and personal development, allowing you to explore diverse programs and departments An inclusive work environment with team-building events and staff recognition programs Access to On-Demand Pay, enabling you to withdraw earned wages before payday Award winning organization: 2022 and 2023 Canadian Nonprofit Employer of Choice from NEOC and 2023 High-Performance Culture Award from SupportingLines Participation in a portability program that allows employees moving from a CSSEA-member employer to Connective to carry over their service hours for vacation and wage purposes (within the last 12 months) *Benefits are for Full-Time and Part-Time employees working 20 hours per week or more KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Assists clients with activities of daily living including bathing & hygiene, grooming, eating, and toileting Following the established resident service plan, at all times working with the resident regarding preferred times, and method of service assistance Perform delegated tasks once receiving training by Registered Nurse and demonstrating competence in the performance of the task Provide unscheduled housekeeping assistance as required Provide companionship to isolated residents, and maintain knowledge of all activities being provided, facilitate and encourage resident participation Assist residents with personal laundry as requested Assist residents to access the dining room, and provide take away meals as directed by the Program Manager or designate. Assist with dining room and meal service as required Report any changes, concerns, and observations Maintain records required regarding resident care, medication management, changes to care and support needs, and resident refusals for established routines Assist with transfers to and from hospital Discuss changes in resident support requirements with Program Manager or designate. Facilitate the transition for new residents to the program, helping them to learn about their new housing environment, the services and resources available Interact with residents in a manner that respects their individual rights and dignity, ensuring privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times

Qualifications

Care Aide/Community Health Worker certificate Registered with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience Knowledge of relevant healthcare laws and regulations Experience in the areas of Community Living and Licensed Care is preferred Good written and verbal communication skills in English Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical requirements outlined below are non-specific to the position, as such, there may be additional tasks required. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities though our accommodation process. Ability to walk up and down stairs Ability to operate a motor vehicle Ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to perform First Aid, CPR, and Naloxone administration Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time Ability to complete general housekeeping duties (i.e., sweeping, mopping, wiping areas, laundry, changing light bulbs)

Ability to successfully complete a Criminal Records Check Ability to successfully complete reference check Ability to provide a record of work history Current Emergency First Aid Certificate (Please refer to the Certificates accepted in B.C. - WorkSafeBC) Willing to complete Food Safe Certificate (Level 1) COMPENSATION The starting wage for this role is $27.53 per hour.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role.
