Provide care and management of mechanically ventilated patients.

Assess and modify invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation in accordance with ventilation/weaning guidelines.

Perform airway management including intubation and extubation.

Administer aerosolized medication and/or Meter Dose Inhaler (MDI).

Assess and intervene for patients at high risk for respiratory failure.

Manage tracheostomies.

Conduct home oxygen assessments.

Perform pulmonary function testing (body plethysmography, spirometry, lung diffusion, methacholine challenge testing).

Perform arterial punctures and blood withdrawal from arterial lines.

Insert arterial lines.

Assist with bronchoscopies and percutaneous tracheostomy procedures.

Transport high-risk patients intra- and inter-organization.

Provide neonatal respiratory management including neonatal resuscitation at high-risk deliveries, mechanical ventilation, Nasal CPAP, oxygen therapy, and assistance with airway management

Each discipline is focused on driving evidence informed practice to promote high quality patient and family centered care. The team has a professional practice leader (PPL) model for each regulated allied health discipline which promotes and enhances the interprofessional team. Each regulated discipline has their own PPL with dedicated time to enhance their communities of practice, represent their respective disciplines at committees, create policies & procedures, lead corporate level initiatives and drive best practices in the realm of patient care. We are currently recruiting for a Permanent Part Time Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support our acute care as well as ambulatory service (adult and pediatric asthma and pulmonary function) clinics. Education and Experience:
Current registration in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
required
Current BCLS - required
Current ACLS- required
Current NRP - required
Previous experience in critical care - preferred
Previous experience in pulmonary function testing- preferred
Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) or Certified Asthma Educator (CAE)- preferred
Experience with COPD patients/puffer teaching preferred
