Provide prenatal/postnatal assessments, counseling, and referrals to support a healthy and safe maternal/child transition from hospital to community.
Provide breastfeeding support, anticipatory guidance, and nursing care for expectant and new parents, including teaching treatment procedures to promote infant and self-care.
Coordinate Public Health Nurse (PHN) services with community services and agencies by liaising with physicians, hospitals, social workers, and other agencies.
Organize and present client information in case conferences.
Arrange joint home visits with colleagues and/or other professionals.
Deliver health education and health promotion services in homes and communities to individuals, families, and groups.
Assess educational/information needs and apply adult education principles to support health behavior change and self-care.
Prepare childbearing educational materials, conduct educational sessions, and run health promotion campaigns.
Act as a resource/advisory capacity to other professionals and support workers, including explaining care and compiling standard-of-care handouts and pamphlets

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Completion of a recognized course in human lactation and breastfeeding.
One (1) year recent, related experience in public health maternity care nursing (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
Current valid BC Driver’s License.
Ability to travel as required for the position
