The Registered Nurse functions as a professional within their professional scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurse of Ontario and the RHPA. The Registered Nurse functions as a professional by utilizing the nursing process in the delivery of all critical care related therapies and nursing care needs for patients requiring Critical Care services. The Registered Nurse is responsible for incorporating critical care standards and competencies into nursing practice as outlined by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Critical Care Standards, the Canadian Association of Critical Care Nursing Standards, and the College of Nurses of Ontario. As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse participates in ongoing research, patient advocacy, ongoing education, and the provision of direct care.
Requires current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and a minimum of 2 years of acute medical/surgical nursing experience. BCLS/HCP certification is mandatory, while ACLS and Critical Care certifications are preferred.
