Registered nurse - Oncology (Modified full time - 0.8fte)
One (1) modified full time (0.8FTE) Registered Nurse position is available at Louise Marshall Hospital within the Oncology department. The Oncology Nurse will be involved in all aspects of the oncology and medical day care program including, but not limited to: patient/family assessment, administering & teaching chemotherapy, medical day care activities, providing supportive and palliative care, participation in the development & implementation of patient treatment plans, quality improvement processes, and facilitation of referrals and research initiatives.
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing BScN or related degree completed or in progress preferred Completion of de Souza Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course mandatory. Certification must be active and in good standing Certificate in Oncology Nursing CON(C) an asset Experience with intravenous insertion, PICC and Portacath access Current experience in systemic chemotherapy administration Experience with medical day care procedures including but not limited to paracentesis, thoracentesis, bone marrow biopsy, and lumbar puncture Current BCLS certification Knowledge & application of principles of oncology and palliative care nursing Demonstrated experience in working both independently and as part of inter-professional team Demonstrated leadership abilities Experience with Meditech (Registration, Order Entry, Scheduling) preferred Experience with Cerner’s PowerChart Oncology preferred Excellent interpersonal & communication skills Excellent attendance record Computer literacy; working knowledge of a variety of computer systems & software applications Demonstrated commitment to professional development, continuing education and clinical training programs Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired SALARY: $41.15 - $58.98 per hour
