Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Medical Laboratory Department at Creston Valley Hospital, in Creston, BC.   • Competitive wages About the Job The Creston Valley Hospital & Health Centre is a Level 1 Community Hospital in the East Kootenay health service area. Located in Creston, southeast B.C., between Osoyoos and Cranbrook, the hospital offers services including surgical, inpatient and emergency. Medical Laboratory Assistants perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine laboratory tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required. This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions.   • Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Canadian Driver’s License as required by position
  • Ability to type 25 WPM *5 minute invigilated typing test dated within the past 48 months from an approved institution. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*

Requirements

Grade 12 plus successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program. One year of recent, related experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience). Canadian Driver’s License as required by position. Ability to type 25 WPM (5 minute invigilated typing test dated within the past 48 months from an approved institution; no self-administered online tests)
