Design, develop, and implement firefighter training programs.
Lead and manage department training initiatives.
Evaluate and report on training program effectiveness and operational readiness using data and performance metrics.
Ensure training programs are current, effective, and aligned with other Westshore Fire Departments with a focus on firefighter safety.
Act as a liaison with external agencies, regulatory bodies, and regional partners on training initiatives, committees, and interagency programs.
Provide operational and tactical support to fire department personnel by responding to fires and other emergencies.
Participate in on-call Chief Officer Duty coverage on a rotational basis.
Represent the department in training-related interagency programs

Post-secondary diploma in Administration, Leadership, or related field.
Seven (7) years of progressive experience in the Fire Service, including three (3) years of leadership experience (or equivalent combination).
NFPA 1021 Fire Officer III certification (or NFPA 1021 Fire Officer II with Fire Officer III obtained after hire).
NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor II.
EMA FR Level 3 valid license.
Valid BC Class 5 Drivers’ Licence.
Thorough knowledge of emergency response principles and methods (fire suppression, hazardous materials, technical rescue, auto extrication, medical aid).
Ability to define expectations, analyze performance, recommend improvements, and follow through.
Ability to initiate change in policies, practices, and programs to improve operational capacity.
Thorough knowledge of fire department operational guidelines, regulations, standing orders, policies, and applicable Municipal/Provincial codes, acts, and bylaws.
Demonstrated senior-level experience in emergency scene management and incident command with command-and-control capability in complex/high-risk environments.
Ability to collaborate with Chief Officers, union members, and international accrediting bodies
