About the role

Provide addictions support to clients and their families within an interdisciplinary team using a strengths-based and harm reduction approach. Deliver care and outreach services to vulnerable populations within the RAAM clinic framework.

Support Worker – Rapid Access Addiction Medicine 1 FTE Contract to March 31, 2028 Longlac Site

One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services We are currently seeking a compassionate, committed Support Worker who will work in the Greenstone Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic.

The RAAM Support Worker is a valuable member of the RAAM and Community Health Centre teams.

The successful candidate is in charged with providing addictions support to clients and their families within an interdisciplinary model.

The approach to care is strengths-based and rooted in harm reduction and evidence-based practice.

The position has a competitive salary, option to join Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), and an excellent group health benefits package.

The salary range for this position is from $45,056 to $56,320 per year.

We currently do not use AI to screen resumes.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to individuals with lived or family experience with mental health, addictions and/or recovery, or individuals working with vulnerable populations. Proven experience with overdose prevention and response, and training in/experience with Naloxone administration. Experience and knowledge of drug use, alcohol use, risky behaviours and harm reduction supplies. Volunteer or work experience within a harm reduction framework. Experience utilizing harm reduction principles and strategies. Experience providing peer-to-peer support. Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflict. Confidence in asserting oneself and maintaining strong boundaries. Knowledge of community services and resources; strong advocacy skills. Knowledge of different approaches to recovery Strong communication skills; able to actively and accurately listen. Demonstrated display of sensitivity to others. Open, non-judgmental and willing to learn. Basic computer skills, including email. Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within individuals who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured). A current driver's license and access to a vehicle to travel to designated outreach sites in Longlac and Geraldton

Requirements
