  • Salary The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.
  • Job Accuracy Posting Flag The hours of work, including start and stop times, days off, work area and work site may be subject to change consistent with operations requirements and applicable provisions of the Collective Agreement and statutes. **Testing may be required. ***A criminal record check may be required Summary Providence Breast Centre (PBC) at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital (MSJ) is on the front line of efforts to improve statistics and outcomes for women with breast cancer.
  • Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, which leads the province with around 1,200 breast-cancer surgeries annually, is the first in B.C. to adopt advanced procedures that will be less stressful and disruptive to a patient’s life.
  • As a Staff Nurse, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients receive comprehensive support.
  • This position is primarily desk-heavy with a focus on multi-tasking and computer work, requiring someone who is tech-savvy and capable of navigating and learning various programs.
  • The majority of time will be spent on computer work, including email communication, documentation, and triaging patient information.
  • You will be responsible for reviewing patient records, making informed decisions based on established clinical pathways (without direct consultation with the surgeon), and ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
  • We are seeking candidates with experience in cancer care, particularly those who are familiar with the unique needs of breast cancer patients.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges and complexities of cancer care is essential for success in this role.
  • Key Responsibilities: Comprehensive Patient Assessment: Evaluate patients' physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs to ensure holistic care.

What You Bring Education Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives. Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service. Ability to work as a member in an interdisciplinary team. Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills. Ability to deal with others effectively. Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to prioritize and organize work. Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to teach and identify patient/resident learning needs. The new St. Paul’s Hospital is expected to open in 2027. Your Day-to-Day: Review charts, observe patients, interview them and their families, and consult with the healthcare team. Assess and Plan Care: Identify patient needs, create care plans, and prioritize nursing interventions using clinical judgment and evidence-based practices. Deliver nursing care following policies, procedures, and standards. Track patient progress, evaluate outcomes, and update care plans as needed.
