Bayshore Medical Personnel is excited to announce a Part-Time contract opportunity for a Mental Health Registered Nurse to join our team in Esquimalt, BC! We're looking for dedicated professionals to make a meaningful impact in Military Health Services, with (3) years of experience in Mental Health.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse who is looking for a day shift opportunity (no nights, no weekends), and who is ready for an exciting challenge working with an extremely unique and rewarding patient population!

Our Mental Health Nurses (MHNs) provide Mental Health services to our client in a primary health care setting where they are responsible for assessment, nursing diagnosis, development and implementation of a care plans, crisis intervention, and counseling and life skills programming to the clients in the clinic.

An important part of this role is to provide counseling services in individual and/or group therapy sessions using CBT, DVT or motivational interview techniques. Candidates also need to be skilled in bio-psychosocial assessments and conducting medication management from inpatient and outpatient perspective.

Education / Qualifications

All Nurses - Mental Health must be Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurses.

Registered Nurses must, as a minimum possess:

A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized college or university with either a certificate in Mental Health Nursing or certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association (CAN);

A Registered Nurse license from the provincial or territorial professional college or association in the province of practice; and

A Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or equivalent such as Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) Level C. Annual recertification is required.

Registered Psychiatric Nurses must, as a minimum possess:

A Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing or a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing Degree from a recognized university;

A Registered Psychiatric Nurse practice permit/license from a province of practice; and

A Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or equivalent such as Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) Level C. Annual recertification is required.
