Rehabilitation Assistant (OT/PT)

Description JOB SUMMARY

Within the context of a client and family centred care model, this position functions under the operational supervision of the Manager or Team Leader and the work direction of a licensed designated occupational therapist or physiotherapist to work as a member of the health care team. Provides assigned physical / occupational therapy therapeutic interventions; assists in modification of OT/ PT care plans and facilitates transition to community programs in order to enable clients to maximize potential for independence. Provides functional direction to family, reports relevant observations of client's condition in writing or by utilizing basic computer literacy, manages equipment safety and inventory.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Completion of a recognized Diploma level Rehabilitation Assistant Program with Occupational and Physical therapy components plus one (1) year's recent, related experience working with target population. Valid BC Drivers License. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed. Knowledge & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Computer literacy skillsAbility to work collaboratively with others. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Ability to observe and recognize changes in clientsAbility to analyze and solve problems.Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clientsAbility to motivate clients and to encourage progression through therapeutic goalsDemonstrated ability to provide self-care instruction and educationThe hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
