Provides physical and occupational therapy interventions under the direction of licensed therapists to help clients maximize independence. Responsibilities include modifying care plans, facilitating community transitions, and managing equipment safety.
Requires a recognized Diploma level Rehabilitation Assistant Program with OT/PT components and one year of related experience. A valid BC Driver's License and personal vehicle for travel are mandatory.
Within the context of a client and family centred care model, this position functions under the operational supervision of the Manager or Team Leader and the work direction of a licensed designated occupational therapist or physiotherapist to work as a member of the health care team. Provides assigned physical / occupational therapy therapeutic interventions; assists in modification of OT/ PT care plans and facilitates transition to community programs in order to enable clients to maximize potential for independence. Provides functional direction to family, reports relevant observations of client's condition in writing or by utilizing basic computer literacy, manages equipment safety and inventory.
Education & Experience Completion of a recognized Diploma level Rehabilitation Assistant Program with Occupational and Physical therapy components plus one (1) year's recent, related experience working with target population. Valid BC Drivers License. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed.
