Responsible for scheduling and assigning daily surgical bookings and preparing the Operating Room slate. Duties include maintaining surgical waitlists, distributing statistical information, and supporting patient care experiences.
Requires Grade 12 education and three years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination. Candidates must possess knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.
Within the context of a client and family centred care model, and in accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, works in a team based environment and plays a significant role in ensuring that the overall surgical booking and slating requirements are met. Applies critical thinking and uses current knowledge of procedure protocols and computerized systems to schedule and assign the daily procedural bookings. Duties include identifying available booking options, preparing and editing preliminary Operating Room slate, completing and distributing final slate to designated areas, as well as compiling, maintaining and distributing designated operative statistical information and surgical waitlists, ordering office supplies, typing and filing correspondence. Also acts to support the delivery of patient care and to ensure patients and/or their family have a positive experience with the designated services.QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Grade 12, three years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge & AbilitiesAbility to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.Knowledge of medical terminology.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to supervise.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
