The Registered Practical Nurse provides comprehensive assessment, care planning, and patient education within an inpatient medical/surgical unit. They collaborate with an interprofessional team to ensure continuity of care and successful discharge planning for patients.
Candidates must hold a current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses and BLS certification. Required skills include IV initiation and physical assessment, with a preference for acute care experience and RPNAO membership.
June 19,2026 What we are looking for: As a Registered Practical Nurse you will be an integral member of the interprofessional team at the Uxbridge site. You will practice in an environment where the emphasis is on activation, professional practice and customer satisfaction. Using your clinical expertise, you will, in collaboration with the team, be responsible for comprehensive assessment, care planning, patient education and discharge planning to support the continuity of care throughout the patient's stay on the inpatient unit. What you bring to the role: Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses Current BLS certification Current CC1 certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire Recent and related clinical experience in a fast paced acute care environment preferred Previous experience in patient education, suture removal, wound care, assisting with minor procedures and immunizations is an asset Medication certificate RPNAO membership is preferred IV initiation skills are required with venipuncture skills preferred Excellent physical assessment skills Proficient computer skills, with experience in documentation standards in an acute and urgent environment Well developed organization, communication, interpersonal and teaching skills Evidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education and leadership experience Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family centred care environment Demonstrated excellent critical thinking, problem solving skills and ability to be flexible with a changing assignment Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required Work Schedule: The successful candidate must be available to work a variety of shifts, with flexibility to cover additional shifts as required. The primary shifts are expected to be 12 hours days and nights. Please note schedules may change due to operational needs.
