Position Overview Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, Subspecialty Critical Care, and the direction of the Registered Respiratory Therapist, while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital. The Respiratory Therapy Assistant - Student is responsible for assisting the Respiratory Therapist in a non-clinical fashion to provide respiratory care to patients at St. Boniface Hospital. Experience Previous related experience working with Respiratory Therapy Equipment and/or in the general field of respiratory therapy preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Manitoba High School Diploma (or equivalent). Currently enrolled as a 2nd or 3rd year student and in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Education program (Preference will be given to students of the Max Rady Faculty of Health Science: Respiratory Therapy Program students).
On-the-job training (up to 6 months) is provided by the Respiratory Therapy Department.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift heavy medical equipment (up to 45 lbs.). Ability to push wheeled medical equipment. May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, radiation, toxic materials, noise, and allergens.
