Part Time Support Worker - Temporary Position

• Facilitate community involvement and participation in meaningful activities.
• Support people in accessing employment, recreation, education, volunteer opportunities, and community resources.

• Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of support plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily notes and required records.
• Review communication logs and share relevant information with team members.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with families, community professionals, and external service providers.

• Organizational responsibilities
• Adhere to all Agency policies, procedures, and professional standards.
• Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all applicable legislation.
• Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and respect in all workplace interactions.
• Model and continuously develop competencies expected of a Direct Support Professional.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education
• Completion of a one (1) year post-secondary diploma or degree in a human services field.

• Experience
• Minimum six (6) months of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or in a related human services field.
• Relevant volunteer experience and student placements may be considered.

Skills and certifications

Required

• Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
• Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence and driver's abstract.
• Reliable access to a vehicle.
• Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance.

Assets

• Medication administration and pharmacology training.
• Safe Management, Crisis Intervention, or related behavioural support training.
• Experience with person-centred planning.
• Computer proficiency and experience with electronic documentation systems.

• Working conditions
• Travel throughout the community is required.
• May provide support related to personal care, behavioural, medical, social, and emotional needs.
• May be required to support people with complex needs or communicable illnesses.
• Shift work, weekends, holidays, and overnight hours may be required depending on operational needs.
• Physical demands may include lifting, transferring, assisting with mobility, and supporting individuals in various community and residential settings.
