Provide outreach services to women in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside to help them establish and maintain safe housing. Work within a feminist and anti-oppression framework to support vulnerable populations.
Requires at least 2 years of related experience working with marginalized women and knowledge of gender-based violence, mental health, and substance use. Must possess or obtain First Aid and NVCI certifications.
The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC) exists to support and empower women and children, living in extreme poverty in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, who are particularly vulnerable to violence, exploitation, injustice and injury. Through low barrier Drop-In Centers and Emergency Shelters, DEWC provides basic need services, programs, and specialized supports to over 1000 women and children daily to help them survive the conditions that surround them. Reporting directly to the Specialized Services Manager, the Housing Outreach Worker will provide outreach services to women who live in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, supporting them in establishing and maintaining appropriate safe housing. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.
