Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy school with successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care examination and current CRTA/CSRT membership. Preferred candidates have at least one year of related pulmonary function diagnostic experience and CRE certification.

We are currently seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Pulmonary Function Diagnostics to join our Edmonton (North) office on a part-time basis.
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) specializing in Pulmonary Function Diagnostics at Maple Respiratory Group, you'll be a vital member of our inter-professional team. You'll conduct comprehensive Pulmonary Function Tests to support the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cardiopulmonary disorders, educate patients on respiratory health, and ensure the optimal performance of diagnostic equipment. Your role requires effective collaboration with healthcare professionals and a dedication to continuous professional development.
Your key responsibilities will include: · Perform diagnostic tests, such as arterial blood gas analysis and cardiopulmonary functions tests
· Conduct pulmonary diagnostic tests, including spirometry, diffusion capacity, lung volumes, and arterial blood gases, adhering to American Thoracic Society (ATS) standards
· Operate and monitor respiratory equipment to administer treatments such as oxygen, oxygen-air mixtures, humidified air or specialty medical gases
· Perform routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of pulmonary function equipment, ensuring all tests meet accreditation program standards.
· Contribute to quality assurance, infection control standards, and continuous improvement efforts within the pulmonary function laboratory.
· Collaborate with healthcare professionals to convey test results and ensure comprehensive patient care, adhering to safety protocols and physicians' orders.
· Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, management techniques, and disease prevention, enhancing patient care and treatment outcomes.
· Prepare and instruct patients on test procedures
· Ensure patient safety and comfort during tests
· Maintain patient records and ensure data is properly documented in the healthcare system
· Maintain patient confidentiality and foster open communication with the Medical Director and healthcare team.
· Stay updated with the latest pulmonary testing techniques and technologies
· Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy and successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care examination.
· Current or eligible for membership with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CRTA) Respiratory Therapists and the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT).
· Current HCP-CPR certification from the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
· Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) is preferred.
· Minimum of one year’s recent related Pulmonary Function Diagnostic experience (preferred) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
· Proficient in American Thoracic Society (ATS) criteria for pulmonary function testing would be an asset
· Proficient in using pulmonary function testing equipment
· Knowledge of respiratory diseases and treatments
· Basic life support (BLS) certification
· Understanding of medical terminology and respiratory physiology
· Technical proficiency with medical diagnostic equipment
· Demonstrated ability to assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respecting their confidentiality and privacy and communicating in a courteous and respectful manner
· Ability to coach patients effectively to obtain the best results
· Physical ability to perform the duties of the position (physical stamina to stand for extended periods and assist patients) and ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
· Ability to define problems, gather data, organize facts, and make valid conclusions.
