Responsible for receiving, accessioning, and preparing specimens for testing while performing manual and automated procedures. The role also involves maintaining laboratory equipment and responding to inquiries from clients and healthcare providers.
Requires a high school diploma with post-secondary science or medical terminology courses. Previous laboratory experience and strong computer skills in MS Office are considered assets.

As a Lab Technical Assistant, you will be responsible for the preparation, setup, and limited test processing of specimens in the laboratory, and help deliver better health outcomes for patients through the delivery of fast and accurate test results.

This vacancy is for an existing position Your responsibilities will include: Receive, accession, sort and prepare specimens for testing Perform manual and automated testing procedures under the guidance of a Medical Laboratory Technologist Respond to phone inquiries from LifeLabs employees and clients such as hospitals, clinics and physicians Clean, maintain, and operate instruments and other equipment Participate in problem solving in work organization and workflow to drive continuous improvement Always ensuring test quality and personal safety What you will bring to the role: High School diploma with courses in post-secondary science or medical terminology Previous laboratory experience an asset Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment while being detail oriented and hands on Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people Strong computer skills in MS Office products Problem solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy and confidentiality LifeLabs’ compensation programs are commensurate based on the role, skill, effort, responsibility and working conditions, irrespective of gender, race, ethnicity, beliefs, age or any other personal characteristics.
