Provide outreach, referral, and advocacy services to the aging Indigenous community across Simcoe County and York Region. Coordinate client onboarding, scheduling, and transportation to medical appointments and cultural programming.
Requires a post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Services, Indigenous Studies, or equivalent, with at least five years of related experience. Must possess a valid driver's license, CPR/AED certification, and a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
The Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle (BANAC) is an Indigenous governed, Indigenous led regional social planning and development organization. The BANAC service region now covers Simcoe County, Muskoka, and York region. BANAC works in cooperation with Indigenous communities and non-Indigenous organizations to address community-identified priorities through coordinated planning, implementation and evaluation. BANAC has a mandate to support the continued promotion of Indigenous lifelong learning and community wellness through self-determination and community participation. BANAC offers many innovative programs and services including Aging Well Senior Supports, Bebminot Family Wellness, the Biinoojinsauk Child Care Centre, Maapii Enjii Zaagi Gaazwad and the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Care Team. Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin offers a wholistic approach to wellness that includes traditional healing practices in primary care, community clinics, addiction and recovery services, counselling programs, midwifery, land-based healing programs, and community health promotion.
Post-secondary degree/diploma in Social Services, Indigenous Studies or equivalent. Minimum five (5) years related experience working with cultural programming/long term care/outreach, and administration. Valid drivers’ license required; copy of current drivers’ abstract required. Experience using the Lone Worker Safety App. Experience with EMR (TELUS Health). Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize with excellent attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint

Information About Working at BANAC Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin: Work is typically performed in BANAC clinics, offices and / or in community settings. Regular travel to meetings and communities is required; access to a personal vehicle is considered an asset. Regular overtime work may be required to accommodate business needs and BANAC team members enjoy a flexible work schedule. BANAC work site locations are periodically exposed to smoke due to the burning of sacred medicines: tobacco, sweet grass, sage and / or cedar.
