• Competitive wages About the Job South Okanagan General Hospital is an active, rural hospital serving the communities of Oliver, Osoyoos, and surrounding areas that sees an average of 16,000 emergency visits per year. There are 7 Emergency beds and 18 acute care beds which regularly operate at 100% capacity. This busy hospital is co-located with an 80 bed long-term care facility and also offers outpatient Lab services. Medical Laboratory Assistants perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, distributing specimens to departments and outside Labs, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required. This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. • Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Canadian Driver’s License as required by position
• Ability to type 25 WPM *5 minute invigilated typing test dated within the past 48 months from an approved institution. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
