Community Outpatient Mental Health & Addictions - Adult The Clinical Therapist provides assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients. The Clinical Therapist carries out the general duties of the Adult Service team but in addition to those duties, participates in quality initiatives in the program of care, engages in collaborative person-centered care, and utilizes available information technology to support best practice.

Child & Adolescent Services The Clinical Therapist, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, is responsible for the delivery of time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to children and youth with Tier-3 mental disorders and substance use disorders. Each clinician participates in a consultation group to ensure collegial support, accountability, and effectiveness of assessments and treatments.

SchoolsPlus The Clinical Therapist provides services directly in the school community environment within the designated SchoolsPlus schools. SchoolsPlus is a collaborative model that is comprehensive and student focused. Partners work together to educate and provide service to the child and their family, with the school as the center of the service.

Urgent Care The Clinical Therapist provides advanced assessment, intervention, brief follow up and care planning for crisis/urgent care clients across the lifespan, with the goal of stabilization and connection to necessary Mental Health & Addictions services as required. The majority of consults are from the Emergency Department but may also come from other services or departments both internal and external to Nova Scotia Health.

Clinical Virtual Care Team The Clinical Therapist will provide assessment, psychotherapy, group facilitation, and consultation via virtual technologies to youth (12 and above) and adults with mental health and substance use disorders. The ability to deliver evidence-based individual and group interventions is required. Mental health therapy roles stay in steady demand

In British Columbia, clinical therapists in mental health and addictions are typically in steady demand across hospitals, community programs, and outpatient services. These roles are competitive because employers look for a master’s degree, provincial registration, and related clinical experience; this posting also notes that less-experienced candidates may be considered for a developmental role. Review the AI-summarized requirements and benefits here to save research time, then confirm your registration status and prepare examples of relevant clinical work before applying.
