Requirements summary
Secondary School Graduate or suitable equivalent.
Minimum three (3) years related experience including at least two (2) years operating arenas, swimming pools and HVAC equipment.
Technical Standards Safety Authority Refrigeration Operator Class "B" Certificate.
Certified Pool Operator Certification (CPO) or willingness to obtain within first three (3) months of employment.
C.I.T. certification is an asset.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Pool and Spa Regulation, and Operating Engineers Act.
Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public and staff.
Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
Valid Ontario "G" class driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle for business purposes.
Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in the City's core and relevant departmental functional competencies.
Ability to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Ability to handle complaints and exposure to potentially impatient/angry people.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to changing/adverse weather.
Ability to work around noisy environments and hazardous materials.
Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks and heavy activity of long duration.
Ability to work at heights and lift objects (50-75 lbs.).

Qualifications and Experience
Secondary School Graduate or suitable equivalent.

Daily exposure to noisy environments and hazardous materials (i.e., pool filter rooms, arena compressor rooms).
Performs many repetitive daily tasks requiring alertness; course physical movement (i.e., sweeping, mopping, shoveling, etc.) and coordination of fine movement (i.e. changing filters, changing lightbulbs, use of small hand tools, etc.).
Ability to perform tasks requiring heavy activity of long duration (i.e., stooping, kneeling, crouching, working in awkward positions, etc.).
Ability to work at heights and perform lifting of objects (50-75lbs.).
