The Cardiac Device Technician manages patients with cardiovascular implantable electronic devices by reviewing remote transmissions and alerts. They also provide patient education, perform vital signs and 12-lead EKGs, and coordinate care with medical providers.
Requirements summary
Candidates must have a high school diploma, with a bachelor's degree strongly preferred, and a current BLS certification. Experience requirements include at least two years of analyzing cardiac devices and managing remote transmissions, or completion of a specialized cardiac device program.
Under the supervision of Nursing, Director of Cardiovascular Medicine and the Medical Director, the Cardiac Device Technician will assist in the management of all patients with Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs). Primarily the daily review and documentation of remote pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), and Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) transmissions and alerts. This ambulatory setting requires the Device Tech to work in a patient centric environment with a team approach to delivery of care. The Device Tech must possess strong written and verbal communication skills in order to maximize the clinical relationship with the physician providers, Independent licensed providers (NP/PA), clinical administrative staff, and other device medical staff.

DUTIES: Triaging reports on a daily basis Patient notification of follow-up Assists patients with transmissions over the phone Troubleshoot issues with the remote monitoring systems Assists with device advisories/recalls Daily review and documentation of remote transmissions Requires travel to Norwood, Foxboro, Brighton and Methuen Appropriate communication of finding requiring further attention with responsible MD or NP/PA Enrollment, education, scheduling, and maintenance of patient in various remote monitoring systems (Merlin, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, etc.) Assists with the management and maintenance of the remote monitoring program (Merlin, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, etc.) Collection of patients from waiting area, vital signs, 12-lead electrocardiogram, assisting in check-out process. Range: $26.68- $37.50 This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications.
