minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs) Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is proud to be part of the provincial implementation of minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs), an initiative aimed at enhancing nursing practice and strengthening quality of care across the health system. mNPRs set the minimum number of nurses providing care to patients on a given unit.
In British Columbia, mNPRs are developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU) and health organizations.

Salary Details The salary range for this position is CAD $32.84/Hr. - CAD $41.35/Hr.

Eligibility for the post-basic training education is prioritized to applicants with two years recent acute med/surg experience upon nephrology program full-time start date.
Preferences will be given to applicants with high-acuity training BCIT Nephrology Nursing Specialty Program Online Prerequisites: TBC, BCIT to Confirm Dates Full-time training at BCIT & practicum locations:TBC, BCIT to Confirm Dates - Approximately May 2027 *course dates will be modified based on previous courses completed.
VCH only funds for required courses.
Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.
Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
This will ensure that candidates are able to consolidate and apply skills in the specialty area that VCH has supported and funded candidates to complete.
In the event that a candidate leaves the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they were hired or VCH in under 18 months, VCH will seek to recover the cost of the program.

Working within an interdisciplinary clinical framework in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) Standards of Practice for a Licensed Practical Nurse and consistent with the mission, vision and values and established protocols of Vancouver Coastal Health, works closely with the Registered Nurse in direct care activities for the designated renal hemodialysis patient/client group.
Provides care to clients and families based on stable and predictable states of health, performs activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating interventions, and coordinating health services based on established care plans.
Participates in care planning, functions as a client advocate, and teaches clients and their families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness.
Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the client/family.
Establishes, maintains, and enhances therapeutic relationships based on respect.
Recognizes and responds to unexpected client outcomes by communicating and collaborating with other members of the team.
Documents care provided and responds to incidents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers as needed.
Closing Statement The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections.
Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
