The Rehab Assistant implements rehabilitation programs, including exercise and cognitive therapy, under the direction of Occupational and Physiotherapists. They focus on promoting maximum independence for patients in their homes and communities to support successful re-integration.
Candidates must have completed a recognized college program in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or Rehabilitation Assistance, or hold a degree in Kinesiology. A valid driver's license and strong interpersonal communication skills are required.
The rehab assistant will be responsible for assisting patients who have been discharged from hospital or who are living at home, with various illnesses, impairments and injuries. The rehab assistant will provide treatment to patients under the direction of the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist. Treatment programs may include but are not limited to walking programs, transfer training, strengthening and endurance training, cognitive rehab, ADL programs and pool therapy.
