The Foot Care Practitioner provides routine foot care nursing services and supports the administration of treatments and assessments for residents. They actively participate in multidisciplinary meetings to ensure high-quality care in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
· Ensure resident care is provide with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders, and administrative policies, as well as observe, report, symptoms, and conditions of residents, and initiate remedial health measures where appropriate. Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care. · Assess residents and contribute to resident care plans. Monitor residents’ health, notes changes in condition and assess need for referral to doctors. · Perform foot care for procedures for which recognized training and current competency can be demonstrated. Observe and document client conditions and changes following proper standards and in accordance with professional standards. Qualifications. · Advanced and Diabetic Foot Care Certification is required. · Registration or eligible for registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario. · Access to reliable transportation and “G” class license. · Willingness to travel between work sites if required. · Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices. · Effective human relation skills and demonstrated commitment to working with seniors. · Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential. Additional Requirements include A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date. Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
