The Phlebotomist is responsible for the entire specimen collection process, starting from greeting patients and explaining procedures, through to preparing specimens for transportation. This role involves performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting holter monitors, performing ECG tracings, and handling special test collections.
Candidates should ideally be graduates of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent, with phlebotomy experience being an asset. Essential requirements include excellent communication, good computer skills (minimum 40 wpm typing), strong patient service skills, empathy, adaptability, and the ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality.
