Work environment The Canadian Grain Commission’s Grain Research Laboratory supports Canada’s reputation as a consistent and reliable supplier of quality grain. Our research programs assess Canadian grain harvest quality and study how grading factors affect end-use properties. The work will be focused on specific quality testing of interest to producers, the grain industry and marketers of grains, oilseeds and pulses. Prepare materials and samples and carry out analytical testing using appropriate procedures and approved methods.
Collect record and compile data and report findings in a summary form.
Accurately enter data into spreadsheets.
Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of equipment, and maintain technical logs, files, inventories and other records.
Working in high throughput environment. Intent of the process This inventory will be used annually to staff approximately 10 four to six month term positions in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Candidates will be pulled from the inventory on February 24, 2025. Please ensure you have submitted your application prior if you wish to be considered. Completion of all requirements for a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of natural sciences with a specialization related to the duties of the position OR an acceptable combination of education and training with relevant experience. Degree equivalency EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Experience in sample processing, preparing and analyzing samples. If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications) EXPERIENCE (ASSET EXPERIENCE);
Experience working within a quality management system.
Experience creating, maintaining, or using quality control charts.
Experience in microbiology methods, including the culturing of microbes (bacteria and fungi).
