Under the direction of the Manager, Clinical Coordinator or designate and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, performs assessments, plans and provides personal care, and performs nursing procedures. Performs a variety of orthopaedic technician functions such as applying and removing casts and splints and setting up, monitoring, and adjusting traction equipment as directed by the physician. The Orthopaedic LPN operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, and according to agency operating policies and standards and unit specific protocols.
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as an LPN. Completion of recognized Orthopaedic Technology training. Two years of Orthopaedic technician experience or equivalent. Effective communication skills. Ability to organize work and implement care plans. Physical ability to perform duties
