About the role

Provide clinical services including assessment, intervention, and consultation for children with physical and/or developmental disabilities.

Prescription and fitting of orthotics, adaptive equipment, and mobility devices.

Work with healthcare teams, families, and community agencies.

Participate in ongoing education and training.

Supervise and teach students and support personnel.

Facilitate education and support groups for children/youth and families.

Represent Occupational Therapy on committees.

Assess fine motor skills, perceptual-motor and sensory functioning, activities of daily living, and emotional/behavioral development.

Provide client programs, training, and consultation to families and the community.

Make referrals to other programs/services.

Act as a resource for community-based Occupational Therapists.

Maintain confidentiality and follow safety and infection control policies.

Ensure equipment safety and proper use.

Educate clients and families on safety.

Participate in safety and quality improvement activities.

Provide assessment and/or treatment for school-aged children in various settings

Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.

Minimum of two years experience with children with disabilities.

Skills in orthotics, adaptive equipment, and feeding therapy.

Effective communication skills.

Interpersonal skills.

Valid driver’s license and vehicle access.
