Continuing Care Assistants will work with clients in their homes to provide personal care, assist with daily living activities such as grooming, dressing, and bathing, and provide respite care. Duties also include planning and preparing meals, light household tasks, and helping with mobility and transfers while monitoring household safety.

Funding is also available for the Continuing Care Assistant Program at community colleges across Nova Scotia.
The Nova Scotia Government covers tuition and most program costs for eligible applicants.

Working conditions and physical demands: This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics.
Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.

Candidates must possess Continuing Care Assistant Certification or equivalent certification/experience from another province, along with current CPR/First Aid certification. A valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check are mandatory.
