Reporting to the Director of Care, the Health Care Aide provides ongoing client care, including observing, monitoring, and reporting on physical and emotional status changes to the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. This role also involves the accurate delivery of prescribed medications according to policy and procedure.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program, along with the ability to communicate effectively in English. Applicants must also be physically capable of frequent client lifting and transferring and maintain active and current registration with CLHA.

Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care. The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure. In keeping with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required.
Rehabilitation and Community Transition Program (RCTP) – a short-stay restorative care program that supports medically stable
adults who do not need an acute-care level of service, but may require additional assessment, recuperation, and therapy before
returning to the community.
