Position Overview: Reporting to the Patient Care Manager of Critical Care you will be responsible for providing excellent care to a diverse patient population within our multi-service environment. Our Critical Care Program is a patient focused total care model. You will provide high quality nursing care to patients and their families, based on the philosophy and conceptual framework of Nursing Practice at Scarborough Health Network. You will provide exceptional “customer service” to patients and families within an inter-professional, team environment. You demonstrate professional accountability for your practice and are able to identify and pursue opportunities to meet your learning needs. You may be scheduled at any SHN hospital based on departmental needs.
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as Registered Nurse in good standing Minimum of (2) year’s recent medical/surgical/emergency clinical work experience Must have or be willing to complete the following required certifications and education: BCLS, ACLS, PALS modules within the first 6 months of hire Must have or be willing to complete a Critical Care Certificate from a recognized institution (Sponsorship will be available to those needing to complete the critical care course) Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound clinical judgement Ability to perform the essential duties of the position Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in these areas Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public Exposure to Lean principles, with an understanding of related methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and work record Asset: Computer literacy and or familiarity with e-documentation BScN 1 year in critical care setting an asset Ability to speak another language an asset This posting is being used to establish a candidate pool for upcoming vacancies and does not reflect a specific vacant position.
