Dear Ms. Beaulieu,
I am applying for the Licensed Practical Nurse position at Whitemud Continuing Care Centre. I lead medication administration for a forty-bed unit, take charge on evenings, and I am the unit lead for our resident admission process.
Leading admissions means the care plan is built from what the family says on the first day rather than assembled a week later from a discharge summary. On evenings I direct the health care aides and decide what to escalate, and most of that judgment came from three years on a medicine unit.
Your posting describes a home opening a second secure unit. Admissions to a secure unit are harder conversations with families than a standard placement, and I would want to know whether that time is protected in the schedule.
I hold Licensed Practical Nurse registration, the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination, and current Basic Life Support.
I would like to hear when the second unit opens and how admissions will be covered while it fills. I am glad to meet at your convenience.
Sincerely, Krista Nowak
