In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Under general supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary health care team, the Occupational Therapist assesses treats, educates and manages patients/clients receiving occupational therapy services.
Graduation from a recognized university program in Occupational Therapy; current practicing-category licensure with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as an Occupational Therapist; eligibility for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists; knowledge of current occupational therapy standards, modalities, and scope of practice or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; valid British Columbia driver's license; effective communication, organization, problem-solving, judgment, teamwork, and ability to perform the physical and emotional duties of the position.
